Children's Bible Class Songs

Home: Song Index | Welcome and Goodbye | In the Beginning | Abraham Issac & Jacob | Joseph | Moses | Children of Israel | Joshua and Judges | Kings |
Many of these songs I have known/song all of my life. Others I have just picked up along the way from others. I do not know who wrote many of them. I have tried to include the author's name, if known. Any songs I or my husband have written (Mary S or Keith S) may be used freely in teaching children about the Lord.

Joshua

Battle of Jericho

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho,
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho,
and the walls came tummbling down.

The walls came down on Jericho, Jericho, Jericho,
The walls came down on Jericho,
for the Lord made them to fall.

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho,
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho,
and the walls came tumbling down.

Walls of Jericho
(tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb)

What made the walls of Jericho fall,
Jericho fall, Jericho fall?
What made the walls of Jericho fall?
God told the Israelites how!

Once each day for six long days,
six long days, six long days.
Once each day for six long days,
They marched around the city.

Seven times on the seventh day,
seventh day, seventh day,
Seven times on the seventh day,
They marched around the city.

Then the walls of Jericho fell,
Jericho fell, Jericho fell,
Then the walls of Jericho fell
According to the Bible.

Judges

Jephthah, Jephthah
(tune: London Bridge)
by Mary Shackleford

Jephthah, Jephthah go away,
go away, go away.
Jephthah, Jephthah go away
we don't want you.

Israel, Israel turned from God,
turned from God, turned from God.
Israel, Israel turned from God
to serve idols.

Jephthah, Jephthah please come back,
please come back, please come back.
Jephthah, Jephthah please come back,
we need you.

Jephthah fought the Ammonites,
Ammonites, Ammonites.
Jephthah fought the Ammonites,
saved his people..

Gideon
(by Mary S)

The Lord called Gideon,
The Lord called Gideon,
Go and fight the Midianites,
The Lord called Gideon.

Give me a sign said Gideon,
Give me a sign said Gideon,
The fleece was wet and the ground was dry,
The Lord showed Gideon.

Another a sign said Gideon,
Another a sign said Gideon,
The fleece was dry and the ground was wet,
The Lord showed Gideon.

Take 300 soldiers Gideon,
Take 300 soldiers Gideon,
The Lord destroyed the Midianites,
With 300 soldiers and Gideon.

The Judges
(tune: 10 Little Indians)

Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah,
Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah,
Ezban, Elon, Abdon, Samson, and Micah.

Gideon, A Mighty Man of Valor
Gideon was a mighty man of valor.
He did what God wanted him to do.
He was strong, he was brave, and he trusted in the Lord,
'Cause that's what men of valor do.
Gideon!

Samson
Do you konw the strongest man? Samson!
Strongest man in all the land. Samson!
Your friend's not nice, Oh, please beware,
When you're asleep, she'll cut your hair.
Oh, Samson, what are you gonna do?

Tied up tight, his eyes plucked out, Samson!
"Bring him here!" the people shout, Samson!
He prayed to God, "Please give me strength."
He killed them all. Now what d'ya think?
Yes, Samson's a mighty man of God.

Samuel

Lullaby For Samuel
(tune: Brahm’s Lullaby) by Ruth Hale

Close your eyes, Samuel dear,
got o sleep, little baby;
Mother loves you, little one,
go to sleep now, my son.

God is ever so near,
watching o’er you, my dear,
So close your eyes, little one,
I’m so glad you’re my son.

Samuel
There was a boy named Samuel. He was a sleep in bed.
There was a boy named Samuel. He did what Eli said.

"Samuel, Oh, Samuel."
"Here I am Eli."
"I did not call you. Go back to bed."

"Samuel, Oh, Samuel."
"Here I am Eli."
"I did not call you. Go back to bed."

"Samuel, Oh, Samuel."
"Here I am Eli."
"I did not call you. It must be the Lord.
If it happens once again, here's what you must say,
"Here I am Lord."

There was a boy named Samuel. He was a sleep in bed.
There was a boy named Samuel. He did what Eli said.

"Samuel, Oh, Samuel."
"Here I am Lord."
